Product Description
This 2-qt. double boiler with steamer by Fagor melts chocolate without scorching and steams vegetables to perfection. It's constructed of 18/10 brushed stainless steel with an aluminum encapsulated bottom for even heat distribution; and has rounded, riveted handles for safety. It includes a steamer insert, a tempered glass lid and a recipe book. Hand wash. Imported. 2-qt. capacity.

This is a well-made, versatile, attractive, almost-"professional" set which, if you look around for sales, offers a good deal for the money (mine was from Macey's, special $39.95).Although the bottom unit is heavy enough to function nicely as an independant 3 qt. stockpot, the top unit should definitely not be used over direct heat (my only complaint). And I think the well-made glass lid is always a plus over a solid one.The upper unit and steamer both have 2 qt. capacities. This size is about right for all "double boiling" or for steamimng moderate amounts of food, but might be a little small if you want to steam vegetables, etc. for more than 2 to 3 people on a regular basis.

I am very pleased with this set. The quality is beautiful and it is a wonderful addition to my other cookware.It's stackable which means you can boil, steam and melt at the same time, on one burner. It's a real energy saver.This is truly the finishing pieces to a standard set of Stainless steel cookware.

I ordered two of these Fagor 2-Quart Double Boilers w/Steamer Inserts three years apart. The first was for myself in September, 2007, and a second was a gift for a friend in December, 2010.The one I received felt good & solid; quality cookware I thought. However, I recently visited the friend whom I had gifted with this item and was surprised to find that hers was thin, lightweight, and did _not_ have a quality feel. The the doubler and steamer inserts did not seat securely in the base pan. Her copy functions, but the quality is not nearly comparable the quality of my 2007 purchase and is definitely NOT a gift quality item.The time has past for obtaining a quality copy of this double boiler.
